Losing weight is a goal that most adults wish to gain. Usually, weight loss is difficult to achieve because a person makes the choice to lose weight, then fails to take the proper steps to get there. Sometimes, losing weight can be just a matter of drinking enough water.
A couple of years ago I met a husband and wife in Arizona, and had a brief conversation with them. He was proud of the fact that, recently, he had lost a substantial amount of weight. Following his doctor’s advice, he began drinking a gallon of water a day.
He told me that he had made no changes in his diet. The only difference was, simply, that he was eating less. Due to filling his stomach with water several times a day, in the process of drinking the gallon of water, his stomach was sending him fewer signals of hunger.
Drinking a gallon of water a day can be tedious. Try drinking a glass of this healthy fluid before and after a meal. Take a water break, instead of a coffee break. Keep a bottle of water nearby to sip on, occasionally, throughout the day.
The body benefits, in more ways than weight loss, from drinking substantial amounts of water. On average, 60% of the body is made up of water, and every system in the body depends on water.
Too much water in a day’s time can lead to a condition known as hyponatremia, in which the kidneys’ ability to get rid of excessive water is impaired. Therefore, a gallon of water a day is sufficient to achieve your goal of losing weight.
