Here is an Easy Recipe for How to Make Sticky Rice

Have you ever been enjoying a delicious Asian meal and wondered how to make your own sticky rice at home? The recipe is surprisingly simple, but it does take a while and must be prepared ahead of time. All you need is 3 cups of Thai, long grain, sticky rice, water, and a steamer.

Step 1
Pour the rice into a container that is at least 6 cups in quantity. The rice will expand a bit so the container needs to have extra room for the rice to grow. Add room temperature water until the rice is covered by 2 to 3 inches.

Step 2
Soak the rice for at least 6 hours, up to 24 hours. The longer it soaks, the more tender the rice becomes. If you're in a hurry and don't have 6 hours, you can use hot water that's about 100 degrees and soak the rice for just 2 hours.

Step 3
Drain the rice and place in a steamer basket over several inches of boiling water. Make sure the rice never touches the water directly and that your pot does not boil dry. Cover and steam for about 25 minutes until the rice is tender and shiny.

Step 4
Place the rice on a clean surface and flatten it out a bit. Fold the rice over onto itself from one side, and then the other. Repeat this process several times. This is similar to kneading dough, except there's no punching. When you are finished, the rice will have no clumps and should be an even, round shape.

Step 5
Place the rice in a serving bowl and serve warm. Remember to keep the rice covered until you serve it as it will dry out as it cools. Enjoy!
